$60 - £80 for a meal isn't so bad and is probably about average these days.

Consider in London that you can easily hit the £200 mark, especially if you don't keep an eye on the expensive drinks...

I find that that is usually where the money goes - Best become a tea total!

i have. i love it. byo is the future as you can turn up with the best wines to put with the cuisine and not pay 3 times the price.
i didn't mean to sound horrible but I've travelled hard and far and always found real peasant food cheap, delicious and true to the culture. it doesn't bend over backwards to provide us westerners with our plateful of 'pride'.
£80 is too much. but i am glad you enjoyed it.

If you want to eat at peasant food prices go to Ginos where it is BYO, there is no decorations and you are sat at plastic topped kitchen tables.

To be honest I finished this post in a hurry this morning and forgot to mention that James found this meal very authentic and as good as the food as he had in Thailand.

I intentionally disclose any freebies at the top of the post so that readers can take that into consideration when reading the review.

As for the comment on conciliatory tone, I believe that this post was written in the same objective fashion as most of the other posts on the blog. This is just my writing style and not just reserved for the freebies.

i think your review lacks one aspect: unbias. £70 to £80 for what is essentially peasant food makes it a pointless exercise. the content reads more like an advert or endorsement than a review. sorry.
if tom had a certain Thai experience you should have compared and contrasted.
